What are the benefits of membership in Cornerstone Christian School?
Cornerstone Christian School provides many different services and benefits. These services fall into several different categories:
Administrative:
- Record keeping services. We keep your student's cumulative file up to date and in order.
- Affidavit. We file our affidavit with the state of California each year. We stay abreast of each new requirement and how those requirements affect our homeschooling families.
- Assessment testing. We are certified to administer the SAT 9, the OLSAT and the Iowa Basic. Testing is offered in April and is optional.
- High School Diploma. A nicely printed Diploma presented in a padded presentation folder with a tassel bearing the graduation year. There are two Diplomas offered; a regular High School Diploma or an Honors Diploma. You and your student decide which to work towards.
- Work Permits. We are authorized to issue work permits to our own students.
- Drivers Education & Training. We will guide you through the process of teaching your own child Drivers Education and Training. We will then issue the proper DMV forms for your student to qualify for the drivers testing and license procedure with the DMV.
- Home School Legal Defense. Our group number allows our members to receive a seventeen percent discount on their HSLDA membership.
Guidance:
- Curriculum. There are so many choices that a new homeschooling parent is faced with concerning curriculum, frankly, it can be overwhelming. We offer curriculum counseling to get you started on the road to success.
- Guidelines. We provide guidelines of what the typical students in schools across America are learning at different grade levels. We will also make sure that you are informed as to what the State of California requires of each student in each grade.
- College. We provide counseling and information concerning college and how to prepare your student for admission to the college of his or her choice.
Parent Education:
- We provide the opportunity for our parents to learn more about the basics of choosing the right educational materials, understanding your child's learning styles, determining your own educational philosophy and many other important aspects of assuring your child gets the best education possible.
- We have two "Dad's Only" meetings per year where dads have the opportunity to get to know one another and to discuss homeschooling issues that are important to them.
- We have a special High School parents information event during the summer, where parents can learn how to navigate their students course through High School.
Student Education:
- Academic Fair. We have an Academic fair in the early spring in which students of all ages are encouraged to participate.
- Field Trips. We love educational and fun field trips! We usually schedule around six field trips per school year.
Special Needs Students:
We love our special needs students and their families! Just contact us for more information.
Social events:
- Park Day. What's a homeschool group without park day? Two Fridays a month we meet at the park. It's a wonderful time for relaxed fellowship with other moms and their kids. Since we have members who come from all over the north county, we rotate to different parks within the north county area.
- Holiday Parties. We have an annual Christmas Craft Party for the kids but the moms (and some dads) have just as much fun! You don't want to miss the potluck buffet either! We also have an annual Valentines Party. The children get an opportunity to exchange Valentines, play games and do a craft. We all get to enjoy Valentines treats!
- End of the Year "Beach Blast-Off" and Annual Kick-Off Picnic. We end the year with a day of fun and fellowship at the beach and start the year with a family Picnic.
- Commencement Exercises. We recognize three levels of graduation; Kindergarten (they're just so cute), Eighth grade and of course High School. We also give out recognition certificates for Christian Character Traits.
Spiritual Support:
- Prayer Chain. We have a prayer chain that is always ready to pray for your needs.
- Secret Sisters. Our moms have the opportunity to participate in our Secret Sisters program if they want to give and receive special prayer support throughout the year.
- Ladies Bible Study. We have Ladies Bible Studies when there is an interest. These studies are not really taught by any one lady but are more of an opportunity for each one to give input and have the chance to minister to others.
Staying Informed and Being Connected:
- Quarterly Newsletter. Our quarterly newsletter, The Cornerstone Report, will come to you via email. It is one more way that we strive to keep you informed and up to date about what's happening and what's coming up in our school. It even keeps you posted about which students will be having birthdays!
- School T-Shirts. Our Royal blue Cornerstone Christian School T-Shirts are a must have! They are perfect for park days and Field Trips.
- The Cornerstone Christian School website. Our official website, ccsatascadero.org has most of the information you'll need for the year and it's right at your fingertips! Any time day or night you can log on to get info about upcoming events, the location of the next park day, who to call for field trip information or where our next Quarterly Meeting will be held. You can send personal messages to other members or post open messages on our bulletin board. You can print out forms that you need and go to our Links page to shop for curriculum.
As you can see there are plenty of benefits for the members of Cornerstone Christian School but the greatest benefit of all is the opportunity to get to know so many terrific people who all care deeply about training and educating their children.
